The mission of Ludiek

We believe it is important that everyone can sleep, eat, and drink with us in an accessible, homey atmosphere, with a pleasant balance between price and quality. Our challenge is to surprise guests culinarily while simultaneously letting them discover a beautiful part of Drenthe.

Hotel Götz opened its doors in 1929 and became a household name after the war as a hotel, guesthouse, and restaurant. At the end of the last century, in 1995, restaurant Hoffmann's Vertellingen established itself in the building on Dorpsstraat.

Former owners Petra Schrijer and Abe Brouwer purchased the hotel-restaurant in 2017 and gave it a complete renovation, after which it was given the new name Ludiek. Ludiek welcomed its first guests in May 2018.

Thomas has been part of the kitchen team since the opening, while Renate temporarily helped with the start-up during the initial phase. Since April 2024, we, Renate and Thomas, have been the proud owners of this beautiful business.

ABOUT

Recognized by Gault&Millau

We are proud to share that Restaurant Ludiek has been included in the renowned Gault&Millau restaurant guide. We view this mention in Gault&Millau as a confirmation of our dedication to the culinary experience and continuous development. Every day, we work with love on dishes that surprise, connect, and leave a lasting impression.

In this beautiful village hotel, the warmth of the Drenthe countryside blends with the international background of chef Thomas Alachouzos, born in Singapore and raised in Greece. Classic French cuisine is given a subtle Mediterranean and Asian touch here. You can taste this in seared scallops with lemongrass and lime foam, lardo, and black garlic cream. Or pan-fried pikeperch with skin on, served with eel beurre blanc, sweetcorn, and sea fennel. A carefully curated wine list is an added bonus.

Thomas & Renate

Thomas Alachouzos was born in Singapore and grew up on the island of Kalymnos in Greece, where, close to nature, a love for cooking with pure ingredients began. In Greece, he learned to hunt and fish from his father and faithfully watched his mother and grandmother cook. Good food ran like a common thread through his childhood, and once in the Netherlands, he chose to pursue culinary education. By gaining work experience at both fine dining restaurants and a butcher shop and fresh food store, he has developed his own cooking style. He prefers to describe it as 'inventive and slightly French'. Due to his background, this style is influenced by the rich flavors of Greek-Mediterranean cuisine and Asia.

Thomas has worked at Ludiek since the opening in 2018, and has been chef-owner since April 2024. Thomas is interested in wine and food and wine pairings and completed a wine course.

Renate Kortekaas has always had a passion for both the hospitality industry and healthcare, and these two worlds now come together in her daily life. As a healthcare psychologist, she combines her work with a behind-the-scenes role at Ludiek, where she focuses on both the guest and the team. Pleasant collaboration and personal development are central to this. Her love for the hospitality industry began at a young age; as a fifteen-year-old, she worked as a waitress at the 't Hunebed tea house near Havelte, which makes it extra special to be back in this area now. Her grandfather also occasionally helped out at Hofmann's storytelling events, and her parents met in this village. Thomas and Renate met in 2015 at restaurant De Bovenmeester in Steenwijk, where their shared passion for hospitality began.
